Annual iQmetrix Summit is one of the most important events in wireless retail industry. This particular year it was connected with pure Magic.
As the Creative Director at iQmetrix I had the incredible honor and privilege of hosting none other than Magic Johnson, an icon in the basketball world, as iQmetrix’s esteemed keynote speaker. Beyond his basketball stardom, Magic has carved out a successful path in the business realm, adding another layer of significance to his keynote address for the Summit audience.
Along with fellow designer Cole Ecklund, I was entrusted with the creation of the event brand "Connect," promotional materials for Magic's appearance at the Summit, and various other collateral for this extraordinary event.
Below, you'll find a glimpse of the graphics Cole and I have crafted. Leveraging a few internet-sourced photos as a foundation, we deconstructed and reconstructed them to seamlessly integrate with iQmetrix brand elements and resonate with the event's theme. Interestingly, Magic Johnson opted not to use a conventional slide deck for his keynote presentation. Consequently, these images were repurposed as a captivating backdrop, perfectly complementing and enhancing the narrative of his stories—a delightful added touch to the overall experience.
But wait, there is more…
Being offered the role of Magic’s wrangler for that morning was an incredible experience—welcoming him, giving him a tour, assisting during the VIP breakfast, and simply spending time together before his session kicked off. I'd often heard stories about a rare breed of superstars who remained genuinely down to earth, and meeting Magic was a chance to meet one of these exceptional individuals. Our conversation flowed into the early 90s Lakers era, reminiscing about the time when Vlade Divac joined the team and the transitions of other ex-Yugoslav players like Kukoc and Radja to the Bulls and Celtics. We discussed both the humble beginnings and the glorious days of those times. It truly was an awesome morning.
